Athletic Achievements at the Squadron
During May the cadets and staff the squadron, travelled to Wrexham to compete against 23 local squadrons in the annual wing athletics championships with the opportunity to compete again on a regional level. The squadron gained some new sporting stars, with Rebecca Roberts (14) earning a Gold medal in the shot put event, Zoe Roberts (13) a Bronze for the 800m, Stephanie Thomas (13) a Bronze in the high jump, Corporal Craig Neil (15) a Bronze for the 800m race and Andrew Cross (17) a Bronze for the long jump. All of the cadets did extremely well, and the squadron staff are very proud of their achievements.
Rebecca Roberts, as a Gold medallist, went on to compete regionally at DCAE Cosford, where she earned another medal - this time a Bronze. Unfortunately she does not get to continue on to throw for the Region, but there is always next year.
The squadron definitely has lots of sporting potential with other competitors from the squadron including Jacob Williams (14), Matthew Williams (14), Josh Davies (15) and Scott Pape (14) also doing well in their events. This group of budding sport stars will hopefully all go on to compete again next year, and maybe will eventually compete for the Corps!
